Jim Rappaport
Jim Rappaport is an attorney, real estate developer,
entrepreneur, philanthropist and fundraiser and
political activist.
In 1993, he joined his father and brother Jerry Jr.
and
founded the New Boston Fund, which owns,
develops, and operates over 15 million square feet
of
office, research and development, warehouse,
and
residential real estate.
He currently serves as
Chairman of Specialty Hospitals of America, LLC, a provider of
long-term acute care at
two hospitals in Washington DC. He has also been active in
state and national
politics, serving as Massachusetts Republican State Chairman
from 1992 to 1997 and
as a member of the Republican National Committee. He ran
for US Senate in 1990
and lieutenant governor in 2002.
Jim and his wife, Cecelia, have funded three fellowships at Dana Farber Cancer
Institute in Pediatric Oncology and Melanoma and at Children’s Hospital in Pediatric
Surgery. They have also been involved in numerous other community organizations
at the board and fund-raising levels. In addition, Rappaport’s commitment to the
goals of the Foundation can be felt in his recent work with the Rappaport Honors
Program at Suffolk University Law School and the Jerome Lyle Rappaport Center for
Law and Public Service at Suffolk University.
Nancy Rappaport,
M.D.
Nancy Rappaport, M.D. is the Director of School
Programs at Cambridge
Health Alliance and Assistant
Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard
Medical School. Dr.
Rappaport is nationally recognized for her
clinical
expertise in identifying and safely managing
aggressive
students in schools. She has worked
extensively with school
administrators and teachers to
recognize the opportunity for
intervention and
treatment that optimizes students’ functioning.
Dr.
Rappaport completed her medical degree in 1988 and is a board
certified child
and adolescent psychiatrist. Her research, teaching
and clinical expertise focuses on
the collaboration between education,
psychiatry and understanding the demographic
profile of aggressive
students in an urban setting to discern the psychiatric
diagnoses,
functional impairment, psychosocial stressors and appropriate
interventions. Before entering medical school, Nancy was inspired by
her work in
Harlem as a science teacher at an innovative elementary
school. She has expanded
upon that commitment and presented nationally
and regionally on her experience
with school based program
development. Dr. Rappaport has published extensively in
chapters,
requested reviews and peer review journals to help redefine the
expectations of child psychiatrists.
Jonathan Rapaport
Jonathan Rapaport has served on the Board since
December 2007. He
graduated Vassar College in
1993, where he majored in Russian Studies
and
foreign language education.
After college Jonathan
lived in Russia
for a spell, then Texas. He now
resides in New York City with his
wife, Sarah.
Jonathan has worked on various
entrepreneurial
endeavors. He is currently the president of Thanks
For
Everything Enterprises LLC, an e-commerce concern specializing in
custom thank-you notes. In his spare time he enjoys rock-climbing.
