Dr. Jonathan Rosand, Neurology, 2005—Present Rappaport Research Scholar
Research in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhagic stroke focuses on identifying the genes that underlie the disease.
Dr. Rosand is assistant professor of Neurology at Harvard Medical School and director of Fellowship Training in Vascular and Critical Care Neurology at MGH. He is also our most recent Rappaport Research Scholar. As a Rappaport Scholar, Dr. Rosand was able to hire staff to assist in establishing an infrastructure for research in genetics, a feat which is generally beyond the limits of government or other private funding sources, but essential for jump-starting a junior investigator. Dr. Rosand’s research in the prevention and treatment of hemorrhagic stroke focuses on identifying the genes that underlie the disease.
The Foundation is proud to report that Dr. Rosand was recently recruited to the newly-formed MGH Center for Human Genetic Research and is in a stronger position to apply for federal funds to aid his work due to the success he has already achieved through the Rappaport Foundation.
