Lauren Seabrook, PhD, is a postdoctoral research fellow at McLean Hospital, a Harvard Medical School affiliate, where she works with Dr. William Carlezon. She earned her B.Sc. in Biology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Calgary in Calgary, Canada, where she trained under Dr. Stephanie Borgland.
Dr. Seabrook’s research aims to better understand the reciprocal relationship between sleep, stress, and metabolism by using highly translational sleep telemetry devices to measure both sleep architecture and diurnal rhythms. With support from the Rappaport Foundation, she is investigating how hunger states influence fear and sleep processes, with the goal of advancing our understanding of the biological mechanisms underlying susceptibility to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
