Julie Miller, MD, PhD, is a physician-scientist with expertise in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH)-mutant gliomas. Her research focuses on defining the tumorigenic mechanisms that drive the development and progression of these brain tumors to inform novel, more effective therapeutic strategies. Dr. Miller’s laboratory uses a translational approach integrating multi-omic analyses of IDH-mutant glioma specimens with experimental studies in clinically relevant tumor models. Her work emphasizes the identification of metabolic vulnerabilities associated with glioma progression, prior therapy, and recurrent genetic alterations, with the aim of uncovering new therapeutic opportunities. An attending neuro-oncologist at the Mass General Brigham Cancer Institute and an assistant professor of neurology at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Miller earned her MD and PhD from Stanford University School of Medicine and completed the MGB Neurology Residency Program, followed by a clinical fellowship in neuro-oncology at Mass General Brigham and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Her work has received prior support from grants and awards such as an NINDS K08 award, which gives distinguished junior clinician-scientists protected time to transition to independent academic research, a career development award from the American Academy of Neurology, and the MGH Claflin Distinguished Scholars Award.
