Description of Fellowship
Will focused on transportation equity within the Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs. He built an analytical framework to assess questions of “who benefits” from clean transportation policies – evaluating key metrics chosen on the basis of stakeholder feedback. By integrating local vehicle data with nearly 100 demographic variables at the neighborhood scale, the framework can be used to evaluate the equity of key transportation policies and highlight where and how complementary policies can address inequitable impacts. Side projects included reviews of “co-benefit” metrics (like pollution and congestion relief), social cost of carbon measures, and expert interviews around green building finance.
